    Default Trout on FineTail Banshee.

My host took me out fishing from 6:30 to 9:30 this morning on the Little Red. Did not keep count of trout caught but a conservative guess is around 75 for me and 75 for my host. For those not familiar with the Little Red it is plum full of trout. Not a fish on every cast but close.….many times doubling up. Most of the fish were 12-13 inches with quite a few at 14 inches. All my fish caught on FineTail Banshee 6’ 7” rod with Daiwa Ballistic FW reel spooled with Varivas Twitch Master VLS nylon in 3# test. Lure was a Daiwa Presso Eve Yellow Dagger spoon. It has been brutally hot here which is curtailing my fishing. I tried wade fishing but could only last 20 minutes…had to get out of the heat. The only way to fish here now is get out early. In early morning it is quite pleasant on the river in a boat. Hoping to get out several more times before heading home next week. Life is good!

I love fishing with spoons. We've used them for everything for years. I'm just now getting into the UL spoons.

I used to use a dardevle spoon a lot for trout in a very similar pattern. Black and yellow will flat put those trout on the bank.

That 3 hour fishing trip would have cost me 300 bucks if I hired a guide. So as a gift I gave him an assortment of JDM spoons….which he used on our few hours on the water. He had them all laid out….catch a few trout…try another….LOL. I stayed with same one. He was beyond impressed with the lures I gave him. I gave him some heavy sinking minnows and warned him about the hooks. First cast with it and he lands a nice 14 inch fish. Then he proceeds to hook himself as he is trying to get the hook out. I think today he is changing them to singles….LOL.

    Regards

I am sure a guide trip is pricey so nice he is taking you out and a nice gesture on your part as well. I haven’t gone down the JDM lure rabbit hole yet. But, I’m sure it’s coming :O
