Just wondering if anyone has an idea about why this is happening: I usually tie a simple triple over hand knot between my varivas ajing master shock leader 2 lb (0.117 mm) and varivas ester line 2.3 lb (0.117 mm). Works great and no issues here. However, last time on the water I took with me a 2 lb seaguar fluoro leader bought on our domestic US market with the same specs at least on the package than the varivas leader .. I.e 2 lb with 0.117 mm diameter and the knot kept slipping?!? Do you think it’s because of a different coating, flexibility of materials used etc ... I retied everything with a double uni knot instead and worked like a charm ....

I am not sure what you mean by a triple overhand knot. But for years I used what I call a triple overhand knot....actually called it the Trout Magnet. It was the knot displayed on one of their videos and I used it for years with no issues. When I started using ester that knot did not work. I started tying a 3 turn surgeon's knot and have had zero issues. I used Seaguar Grand Max leader for a long time...but I am now out and it is no longer sold in the USA....and I think it is out of production. But I had no issues using that leader with the 3 turn surgeon's knot and ester line.Quote:

Added a spool of Daiwa Type-E Gekkabijin polyester line (#0.5 - 2.5 lb, clear) to today's DT order, to try out (20% off). Anyone used it? Here's hoping it handles a little better than the Varivas 'ester, maybe. Love the sensitive feel, and the fast sink rate, but hate the wind knots.

I bought a spool of it and never made it to the lake with it... it behaved far worse than varivas for me and FYI I am not a fan of it either... only kind of Ester I have had that I semi liked was the Sunline Aji No Ito Night Blue... hope it works out for you... Yikes. Well, I only got one spool to try. Actually, I'm pretty happy with K9 brand 4-lb test hi-viz flourocarbon for pretty much everything. Ultraslab gave me some to try, and I have to agree it is good stuff. I can see it to tie it, and the diameter is small enough so it casts 1/32 oz very well.
Have 0.2 (1 lb) and 0.3 (1.5 lb) and have used 1 lb for a few weeks so far. I am very happy with this line. Just great, like many other esters.
I tried the 1# test ester and used it only about 2 times...it was clear and I could hardly see to tie it. I used it and caught some 7 inch bluegill. I must say it was fun...but really stressful....LOL. What specie are you using it on and what is largest fish you’ve landed with it?Quote:

I use it on a very shallow, very slow creek for sunfish, bluegill, and largemouth. The creek is no more than a foot deep on average, and any jig head over 0.5-0.6 g is just too heavy and gets snagged immediately. The fish are very small, the biggest catch was an 8 inch largemouth. I think this 1 lb ester can handle quite a bit more than that. I have yet to be concerned about my line breaking on a fish there. In fact, I stopped using fluorocarbon leaders and started tying directly to the ester. Regardless of the catch, this line on the Finesse makes for a lot of fun. All are readily available and have exceptionally sharp hooks. The Bobby Garland is not considered JDM but has a nice hook for the cost. I really like the Tict, the one with the Gold hook as it performed well for me on a Waximus plastic bait this past weekend. It has a larger barb.

?Here is the TM on some of the various heads, not fond of the Ecogear but the head does impart a side to side action itself when reeled and the hook is indeed sharp. The Decoy has a sharp plastic keeper that rips the bait really bad, I use super glue on it usually.

I'd recommend checking out Daiwa Gekkabijin TG jig heads. Amazing tungsten heads. I've used 3 g/ 4 hook and 1 g/ 10 hook and now have about ten packs of each to make sure I don't run out. Cast and bottom sensitivity are incredible. Same fantastic Daiwa SS hooks.
I have looked at those Tungsten heads as well but can never find them in stock. Good looking jig head as well, and that hook is sharp.Quote:

Ok gents, nothing ground breaking here but I did get about 6 hours this morning with the new Varivas Twitch Master “low stretch” Nylon in this funky champagne gold color.
First off the color... it looks...strange... on the spool, like Campbell’s cream of chicken almost. However, it shines bright gold in the air and disappears under water, which is handy. I would not call this high visibility line, but I can see it just fine and I struggle with seeing like thats not radioactive bright.
I ordered the 4lb test, by accident mainly, but I’m thinking happy accident actually. It’s rated at .148mm. I was casting a 1gr. (actual weight, not listed weight) marabou jig with no plastic trailer every bit of 60 feet with the Abu Eradicator 67 slow taper. This is plenty far for what I need and having the 4lb definitely didn’t hurt sensitivity in my eyes and I don’t have to be as cautious of line breaking.
I don’t see any need for my fishing at this time to buy a lighter test, this 4lb performs just like I want it to.
As a reference for people that may have tried the BMS Sublime Fluorocarbon.... I can see this line better, with much less stretch and much farther cast distance than the 2lb BMS.
I really do feel like this has less stretch than their other nylon I have tried, the Sight Edition, it’s VERY stretchy though.
Overall this is my new favorite Nylon, I will continue to use it, maybe not on the Eradicator, but I see lots of use for this line in my future. Might even get the 5 or 6 lb version for my one finesse JDM bass rod I use when I’m targeting smallies.

I should also mention that maybe my assessment on sensitivity is not very valid seeing as I used it on the Eradicator, I will use it drop shot rig on the 610 Lunakia next time on the water for a better assessment on sensitivity, I feel it most likely with end up where most nylons do.
I assume you ment 1gm as apposed to 1gr.
