More thought on the Theta reel now that I have used it.....The reel is a keeper for sure. Line lay is great....ease of rotation is great. I do not get the ester flying off this spool like with the FW LT.....at least the time I’ve been using it. That has to be due to the bail shape. Hard to explain how it is but it is bent in such a way that the line slaps against it as it comes off the spool thus eliminating line problems. They discuss this on their website. I have found all of their points on the webpage to be as they say. The drag is uber smooth.....I am assuming because it is a multi stack system and the carbon drag washers. The drag clicker is much louder than any Daiwa or Shimano I own. I am trying to find a niche hole to put this reel in but I cannot. It is better than the FW.....I would say it is probably equal to performance of the Presso and the 20 Luvias. I’m not saying it is better than those 2 reels...after all they are made in Japan.....but in my opinion certainly holds its own. I still would have preferred the MGXtreme but I’m not sure we will get a shot at one of them anytime soon....if ever. I’m glad I got it. It really looks good on the Eradicator. Late yesterday I got into big numbers of 6-8 inch bluegill at VFW Lake. I had one good shellcracker in the bunch...and I must say the reel rotation while fighting a fish is very light. Now I need to get another spool to string up some 2 or 3 pound test nylon to use the reel with the Finezza Prototype if I am in search of Smallies or I get into bigger white bass.
