I also own the soare c14 500. I really like it because of its size. However, I just received my Ballistic FW 1000sp and it's smooth like butter, just like you mentioned. I am going to replace the shimano that is sitting on my MC Finetail area FAX-632SUL with the Daiwa spooled with the varivas 2.3 ester line. However, I am going to keep this little reel until I can afford to buy the Ajing S408UL-S rod. Then I will spool the soare 500 with either very fine braid or ester line for SUL fishing. I got into some spots trout fishing in the north GA mountain and with these branches, mud, rocks everywhere this tiny setup will help me navigate easier ... I wouldn't mind a 1 foot Rod ! lol
Shimano 500 size seems to be notorious for issues with smoothness, quite a bit of instances reported on the web. I have Sahara in 500, C2000S, and 2500S. The 2500S is very smooth and C2000S is just a tad bit less so. However, I had to try out three of 500 size to find a good one, and it is still nowhere near the 2500S. Likely has something to do with the gear size in the 500 series. Can't beat the weight of Soare Ci4+ 500S though – lighter than Vanquish!

Yes I will be keeping the soare for sure , I can see me buying more of the ballistic fw from Daiwa.

What do you guys think the better reel is, ballistic fw lt, or The presso?
Presso Limited no doubt.

How much was the presso going for on sale a while ago?
I put the little shimano on a G Loomis 5'6" GLX it seems to balance well...now to scrape up some $$$ for a presso...LOL
