From my research I believe the biggest difference between thE JDM and US models is the shallow spool. I have actually bought the US Revros 2000 series with a shallow spool. I am shopping for a 2500 or 3000 series reel. Thanks in advance.

I own the US legalis in size 2500D which cost me around 50 bucks and the JDM Legalis in size 1000 which cost me around 100 dollars. The JDM version seems to be higher quality and finish as far as the body and has more gold trims in certain spots compared the US market one ... not sure about the number of bearings but you can change the handle knob on the JDM Legalis (which I did FYI). Can’t upgrade the knob on the US legalis, doesn’t have the screw under the protective cap ... hope this help. I remember uploading some photos about this specific in an earlier post in this thread ... hope this help !

Thanks, for the money the Regals look really good. I have a Cabela's gift cart that looks like it is going on a Regal right now.

Thanks, I will look up your photos. This sticky has gotten so long it takes some time to read it all and my memory is not as good as it once was. I have read and watched some great reviews on the Legalis US and JDM, not as much on the Regal, but the 10 bearings listed in the Regal makes me want to try one. I am leaning toward the Regal right now but the next reel will probably be the Legalis.

This is just to confirm that the Ballistic fw that I received from tackle warehouse is indeed left hand retrieve although the website listing mentioned “right hand”. Sweet deal for $198. Obviously, already thinking about getting the tuning kit and cork handle knob.

The handle can be switched to the other side.

Has anyone purchased a Shimano vanquish in the 1000-2000 size? Price paid? How is the build quality, etc?

I haven’t but I can tell you the build quality will be excellent. They ain’t cheap.....the current model came out in 2019 and I don’t think you will find one for less than around $435 or so....but that is one sweet reel....made in Japan.....weighing in at only 145 grams and a 4.6 ratio for the 1000 series.

    Regards

I missed out on a c2000sss for $380. I bid up to $360, wish I went higher. It's on my radar.

I will eventually get one but just bought the 20 Luvias and 4 Ballistic FW so it’ll be a little while. I do own a 2013 Shimano Twin Power.....it’s just a finely machined reel.

    Regards

both of my reels came today , the Shimano is nice smooth but needs more effort to use the Daiwa ballistic fw is out of this world for smoothness. So much so I just ordered another one
