No...not really. Two schools of thought on reel ratio.....both make sense. Fishing deep, low ratio helps you to keep it deep.....higher ratio helps stay in better contact with jig head. But if I’m fishing a TM in 20 feet or more of water I want as low ratio as possible....LOL.Quote:

I already reel slowly :) I have 3 reels with higher speeds and 1 is my float rod and the other two I use for trout
Took 33 hours and 17 minutes to get to my door from Japan.....that’s impressive. Been trying to gather my thoughts on what to say about the Revo MGX Theta 1000S. I will leave a link to the Abu Garcia Revo Theta website for those who want to look at the specs. I’ve played with the reel as we all do when we get a new one. I’m very impressed. The build quality looks superb.....it has a feel of quality. It is not a low inertia reel as the Presso Limited....but it takes hardly any effort to crank the handle.....the handle will rotate by its own weight...unlike the new Luvias. There is no anti reverse switch....I’m sure to save weight. The reel is buttery smooth. The drag clicker puts out a very distinct click....in my opinion louder than the FW LT reels. On my scale it weighs in at 163 grams. Until one fishes a reel a couple of times you can only go by what you feel in your hand as you exercise the reel. I’m comparing the reel to the Presso Limited.....20 Luvias.....and the Daiwa FW LT reels. All of those are fantastic reels. This reel will hold its own against all of them...it is for sure much better than the FW LT. For the money paid.....number of bearings in the reel.....and the location of those bearings....it beats out the 20 Luvias. If I had paid full price for the Presso Limited, and then bought this reel at the $263 I paid for it.....I would have been ticked. At the price point this reel is better than the Presso Limited. One thing none of us can see is how the reel will look after a year of use. But I fully expect it to hold up. I hope to get out next week and fish with it. It sure looks good on the Eradicator. While I would have preferred the MGXtreme this reel impresses me. I sure did not need a reel but am very glad I got it.

I think that is the central factor in the competition between the biggest reel makers. For many flagship reels (Twinpower, Vanquish, Stella, Luvias, Certate, Exist), resistance to elements and gear wear under high load is key to success, because most models in those line-ups are saltwater-oriented. It is not so important for freshwater light tackle use, where we typically care more about smoothness, line management, and rotor inertia.Quote:
