My biggest expectation is to have an very soft rod with extreme sensitivity. I have the Palms Egeria XUL and while I got my money’s worth it is lacking in the sensitivity department.....but it is a whole lot of fun to fish with. I have wanted an AGS rod for quite a while but was not wanting to pay the $600 for it. AGS guides are more rigid and much lighter than titanium Torzite....and from users who have both they report the AGS guides are more sensitive. The rod recovers faster with the AGS guides and from articles I have read casting is more accurate. I also want one to use in the real world of panfishing and of course some trout fishing as well. I want to be able to talk about rods with AGS guides and to do that I have to use one. St Croix just paid, what I can only assume is a pretty good fee, to Daiwa to use AGS guides on their new Legend Extreme line. St Croix was quick to note they will be the only US rod company allowed to use these guides. At the price I just had to get it. As we have talked about before when you get to the high end you can be splitting hairs talking about sensitivity. While a Tict Ice Cube Rockin’ Drift is not a trout rod......it is the most expensive rod I own and is soft in action....and the sensitivity of it is spooky good.....so it will be a good comparison. I communicate sometimes with a Japanese trout angler. He has a Presso Limited AGS. When I asked him how sensitive the rod was and I quote “It is so sensitive you can feel the fish chasing the lure”.....LOL.
