I have that same rod, and pair it with the 3lb lines (both Ester and PE) on the Diawa Luvias reels. Casting distance, bite detection, and fish handling is excellent. I really like it while bank fishing the creeks because a mixed bag of Temperate Bass and Sunfish is always a possibility. I have literally caught White Bass, Hybrid Bass, and Striped Bass on the rod in one afternoon trip. Pushing its limits...maybe, confidence in the rod helping to protect the line and land the fish.... pretty high, and overall fun factor is just awesome. What I am looking for in the Corto 7.4 is a little more sensitivity, a little more backbone, and a rod I can string up some 4lb Braid, cast 1/16 oz jigs, and mainly use while boat fishing when fishing a little deeper in the warmer water temperatures.
