I shoot docks a lot, but I don't use my Ice Cube RP or my Blue Current for that, no. Casting and vert jigging only. I have several dock-shooting rods, but my favorite is a 7' Ozark shooter with 3000-size Daiwa Regal LT. Very accurate and shoots far. I'm talking about pulling the rod back like a bow with the jig dock-shooting, not skip-casting.
I already had to buy a new top section for my IC RP once (lipping a bass), don't want to risk an expensive repeat.
I’d say you could dock shoot with a Corto... I have a 6’1 that would probably do the trick. I will say I have never been dock shooting but I have played around on trout streams with other rods...
I had the same thoughts about the 2018 Corto. He currently uses a Triple Cross and loves it....but he was wanting a rod like it but at the high end. I suggest he post here as I thought maybe some on here had used a JDM as a dock shooter. I was just worried about a high end Ajing rod breaking but I agree with you...I think the Corto would be very good at it.Quote:

Shot docks years ago, killed several :biggrin , but would be hard pressed to load up a high graphite content Japanese rod and fling a jig with it. I am with the GA dude above, have broken an expensive tip and there are plenty of other rods to do that with.

I was able to play around with my finetail at the hooch today and it cast 1g jig head like bullets! Didn’t experience any issues with the varivas ester line but then again I only spooled about 70 meters on my small 500 size reel....

Welcome to the board, that first rod you list, the Fantail, is tempting me daily. I own two Majorcraft rods in much longer lengths, but may give that one a shot. The Ester lines are great for UL applications, but when you hook a big fish be prepared to loosen the drag immediately and hang on.
