Wow, I love these discussions on limits, particularly possession limits.
Most states (not all) actually define possession as being all fish at any location (including freezer at home, not just while "at the lake" or in the field).
That being said, possession limits do not relate to who caught the fish. For example, In my household there are five occupants. Four of us regularly crappie fish. My 16 month old "little slab" is a future fisherman. Under our regulations, I could legally possess 300 frozen crappie in my freezer. They could be caught over time, or given (donated) by a legal fisherman. (FYI: if you give fish or game away, always tag it with your name address and license info., especially when you give it to non-licensed eaters) I don't think that I have ever gotten close to that limit b/c we eat fish at least once per week.
Interesting rule, prohibiting leaving the state with more than one limit. That is pretty prohibitive.
