Default Kayak Trip Report, Flint River

I fished Flint River this morning putting in at Hobbs Island Rd. Not much to report, returned two short Crappie. Numerous Bass, Catfish, Gills and Stripe kept things interesting, just no Crappie. The water was a bit cloudy with visibility of about 18 inches and 68 degrees. The river is still at full summer pool due to water backup from the Tennesse River. Beautiful morning though, first time I've need a jacket since Spring.

Better than being at work! Just curious ! your thoughts on where those fish you found there earlier this year went ?
on up the creek or back out to the river ?
    Too blessed to be stressed!

Glad you asked that. That’s something I’ve never understood. I had some luck at a place last fall that is a good 3 miles upstream from the river. Thinking about trying it this weekend but I’ve been telling myself if they went back to the river they probably aren’t that far upstream yet. But depending on DBs answer I may still be in luck. Lol

The hole I fished on Flint has Crappie year-round, just couldn't get them to bite. Always seems to be better with the water down two or three feet and cooler. There're a couple deeper holes with brush that the Crappie always seem to stack in but yesterday they weren't there. Best guess is the fish are still there, just scattered.
