Not sure about your lakes but it's about over below the dams here. The big fish show up in March and are gone by April , the smaller fish will stay till it gets hot (June) . Summer they'll be way up the cooler creeks in moving water. These dates will very depend on weather and bait from year to year.

In my teens I chased them religiously. One of my favorite fish. They hit like a Mac truck
