https://www.crappie.com/crappie/alab...ltralight-rod/ Take a look at this thread some good rods mentioned. Plan to spend some time looking, Shelton's has a big enough selection to confuse me.

Just thinkin' about how we all have progressed. My Dad was from more simpler times. Didn't matter to Him if He was fishin' with a Zebco 202 or a cane pole. He would say "It's the dummy holdin' on at one end, and the bait on the other, lets just get 'em to the table and leave the tails on 'em for your Mama, that's what counts, Son".

True. The last time I fished with my dad he schooled me with his antique Zebco 33 and a cane pole.

Do not forget the Quill. There's times when I fish by myself and bring out the quil just to remember my Dad.

    Yes, yes, how true.
How many times have we looked away, then looked back and thought "Man - my quill is gone! Awe, wait a minute..."

Us older folks grew up using pocrupine quills as floats especially when crappie fishing. You can still find them at some bait shops. They would have a wire to run your line through on one end and a rubber band on the top to hold them in place. Quills make a very sensitive cork, Chck out the link. https://www.tenkarabum.com/porcupine-quill-floats.html
