Here's a life hack I came up with that other kayak anglers might be interested in. Sit on top kayaks aren't effected as much, but sit in side kayaks make it difficult to cast with a rod having a long handle (you end up holding your arms out in front of you retrieving jigs).
Most rods I use have a graphite core through the handle. I cut the handle off about 2" from the bottom. Then make a second cut depending on how much I need to shorten the rod handle. I then thread a set screw into the rod portion with glue. Once the glue dries I do the same with the end piece.
