Well, here's my $0.02. I have owned GM products, 2 to be exact, tranny issues. I have owned Ford products, sold my '98 F-150 with 248k miles on it and its still going as of last report. It did however have shift issues in OD, hard shift. My last 2 trucks have been Nissan Titans. An '07 with the 5.6 V8 and 480+ horse power and 415 ft/lb of torque, which I owned for 3 years, towed my 20' Stratos and double axle trailer with ease. Average about 18 mpg. Towing about 15 mpg. I traded it in at 98k, for no particular reason just preparing for retirement in about 10 years, Lord willing. I now have a '17 Nissan Titan XD 5.0 Cummings, I bought in May, I think. I have to remember the boat is back there. Yes 4x4, ramps are slippery things. I have had to utilize that feature several times already since I have bought the '17. I average in daily driving about 19 mpg, towing about 17 mpg. The '17 has remainder of 10 year 100k mile warranty and a lifetime engine and power train from the stealership. Hopefully it's the last one I will ever buy. The '07 didn't have all those fancy cylinder switching, stop light killing engine control thingies. It was just a V8 with some guts. The Cummings 5.0 is a modern diesel truck. It has the Aisin transmission. same as Dodge and Toyota use, the tranny is actually built by Toyota. The Nissan's have been solid trucks so far.
