Right now about all its doing is helping keep a few more crappie not get caught as a lot of people will not brave fishing in the rain. The biggest concern is how the spawn will be effected. if the water stays high then drops quick during the spawn we will lose a lot of the spawn. ideally it needs to stabalize either stay high or stay normal . even worse if TVA gets caught up and decides to drain the lake , then it comes another monsoon right as the crappie go to spawn in the low water , the water will make the eggs too deep to warm enough to hatch thus losing another spawn. This happened 3 years ago on the big G that is why there are very few 7 to 8 inch crappie being caught this year or at least where my friends and i fish. All fish so far are 10 plus inches. I have had 4 throw backs under 10 in this winter .I fear next year there will be a fall off on the numbers but the ones that you do catch will be bigger than the norm. Good thing they spread their spawn out over 6 to 8 weeks so a few do make babies.
