As far as where to go, I'd be no help, unless you don't want to catch any fish. LOL

As you already said, the water is gonna be moving fast. I'd try to find somewhere to vertical jig so you can feel your jig. Either that or cast cross current and keep it tight as it swings by. Bridges are obvious spots to try. Always a popular place.

You might try drop shotting a minnow with a 1/2-1 oz weight on the bottom to keep it from moving, or at least slow it down.
