If I was guessing it has been a little worse weather this weekend than it had been earlier last week. I looked at the guides sites an they hadnt posted a limit from the last couple of days. Me and my dad will be there all next week, god willing. Do you all think we should center our fishing around yellow creek, where we are staying at or should we troll and shoot the docks else where? Im going to have a great trip if I catch anything or not, but Id love to catch a bunch. I really got the fishing fever.

Toddrod, you are right the cooler weather did slow the fishing down over the weekend. We had been catching limit stringers just about everyday through Thursday. Over the weekend most all of the fishermen were averaging about 20 keepers per boat. The fishing is improving already, we had another big catch today and the high was only in the 50's. The weather should continue to get better and you should have a great week to fish. The highs should be in the mid to upper 70's everyday next week and you should be able to catch some really nice fish in the Yellow Creek area trolling. Also you might want to try Little River and Bay Springs. Both are only about a 5-10 minute run from Yellow Creek. Get ready the fishing is great, check out our catch for today...

Thats an awesome mess of fish.I keep checking out this board for updates on this lake. The catches seem unbelievable.Looks like i might have to schedule some vacation down there!!
I am planning my first trip over to Weiss from Geogia and was wondering where is a good place to start out. We will be coming through Rome, GA. I've never been, but hear it is the best lake to catch some slabs.. Come on fellas, let me in on some of the secrets as to where and what to fish with....Daryle
I was at Weiss Wednesday through Saturday. We stayed at Pruetts and fished Cowan Creek. We caught 30 plus keepers Wednesday afternoon/evening in about 4 hours casting jigs on 1/32 oz jigs in about 5 feet of water. Fish were around 2-3 feet deep. They were near docks, but not holding under them so much as a few feet out. Water was in the mid 60s then. Thursday we limited out, mostly throwing jigs, with most of the good bite coming in the evening in 7-10 feet of water around drop offs and structure, but fish were still around 3-5 feet deep. We probably could have done as well or better trolling, but we are stubborn and wanted to cast. We caught some on minnows under floats also. Friday was a lttle slower, again with a hot bite late evening in the same areas as Thursday. Saturday the cold and winds got us, and having to leave early Sunday morning, we pulled the boat out pretty early without much fishing. With the forecast I saw for next week, you should tear them up. Trolling or casting/shooting, it probably won't matter. Good luck.

Cowan Creek, Three Mile and Spring Creek will be hot along the 24th also the boat traffic will be very hot CRAPPIE USA and the Walmart BFL Bass tournament all on the 24th. Mud Creek would be a great place to try been hearing good reports from up that way and you wouldnt have as many boats zipping by you all day... Troll 1/32 oz Southern Pro Hot grubs in 4 to 6 foot of water in the spawning bays and you should do very well![]()
Hope you have a great time on Weiss...

TRod- You and Martin save one or two for your brethren from Louisa, KY.
Are the kids coming down with you and Kim? I'll keep Darrell posted of our progress. Tell Libby hello from me and dad.
T-Rod,
Kim and I have not decided yet to bring the kids or not. They love to fish, but an entire week may be a little much for them now. I definitely don't want to make something they like to do now into something that they will dread. We'll end up making a last minute decission, based on whether we find other activities for them to do as well.
