Just now getting a chance to post my reports:
Fished this past Friday with my Dad.....Started out at Shoals Creek (below the G'ville dam) from 645 - 945, water level and clarity was great - the fishing was not too great tho. We caught maybe 6 with 2-3 keepers (11+ inches). Water was 59.5 degrees in the back of the creek and 64 degrees at the mouth of the creek. All fish caught on jigs (BGBS - Blue Thunder) except 1 I caught on a minnow.
We packed up and shot docks at Honeycomb from 10:30 - 11:30, thinking the sun would push them into the shade - we had ZERO success.
We packed up and went to Cotaco and fished from 1:30 - 4:30 and did good considering the wind was pretty awful. We caught maybe 10 with 6 keepers. Fish were caught in 2-6ft of water and were close to structure. All fish were caught on jigs (BGBS - Blue Thunder).
Also, we fished Smith Lake about 2 weeks ago when the water was 76-78 degrees. Caught around 5-6 the first night and 10 the second night with the biggest being 1.7lbs. Smith Lake has some of the healthiest crappie I've ever caught. They seem to have all the minnows and shad they want, so they seem to be very selective on when they want to take the bait....the fish those particular night wanted nothing to do with minnows and all were caught on various jigs.
