Damion Kidd,

My dad has out fished me 10 to 1 my whole life. He didn't talk much, but when he spoke it was worth listening. One of the most important fishing lessons was if you think your fishing slow enough, then slow down some more. You can't run and gun in a kayak, it makes you slow down. I catch most of my fish between the "good spots" that everyone else fishes.

By the way, my dad mostly bass fished. I use to watch him fish a weightless, Texas rigged worm on 8 pound test line in 20 feet of water! It would take him several minutes per cast. The typical result was him catching a dozen plus bass in the 4 to 6 pound range more days than I can count.

I'll go to my grave not being half the fisherman or one quarter the man he is.
