I use 14 ft poles and 10 lb line the water I fish is usually stained if it was clear I might use 6 lb. drop lines. Like Roger it works for me.

12 ft pinnacles with 6 lb vicious hi-vis
What kind (brand) of rods do you all suggest??? There are so many out there.
I use 12 and 14' poles, 6# line spooled on bait casters. 1/2 to 1oz weights. I also use slip floats. They detect the slightest bite. Jigs & nibbles.
14 ft southern crappie rods with 6 lb mono for spider rigging and 14 ft sc heavy rods with line counter reels with 12 lb test main line for pushing jigs with 2 oz weight
Im on the cheap side, I buy the Hi-Tech shooting star telescopic fiberglass 16ft poles for about 12 bucks each. Buying Long graphite rods gets expensive quick. I run between 14 and 16 poles at a time. The fiberglass rods are heavy but when I break one of them I can usually fix it and if I cant it was only 12 bucks versus 50-100 bucks.
