Thread: plastic jig bodies (like JR's jigs) source?

Don't know where/if you could find the "chunk plastic bodies", by themselves ... but, you "could" try cutting up some 6" plastic worms, into 1" sections, and experiment with those. Not a Bass angler, don't have any old plastic worms gathering dust ... not a problem -- just go to Wally World, Dollar General, K-Mart, or your local bait shop/fishing supplies store and look for the bargain bin, close-outs, or the cheapest brand carried. Solid blue, solid green, or solid red plastic worms are not the most popular ... so they should be pretty cheap, if you can find them. ....... cp

The plastic jig bodies you are talking about are not a purchased item. To make them you must first tie the feathers on the jig then put it in a mold and pour the plastic over the middle part of the jig where the feathers are tied on. The molds are hard to come by and are custom made. I have one but it is not for sale and I don't know where you can purchase one. Hope this helps.

We found that out. But, it seems that Grousefly (Paul Mullins of P&S Custom Tackle) is already taking care of BleuGhill's situation ... by making him some of these type jigs. In the meantime, I think he's going to try the "worm section" suggestion of mine. If I hadn't already won some Jiffy Jigs, in a past tournament, I'd probably be doing the "worm section" trick, myself :D

Like I told BG .... I've seen Paul's, Jiffy Jigs, Hal Fly's, and JR's Marina's version of this jig --- and, if they were all in a pile, I don't think I could really tell much difference.

I think you are right about them all looking the same. The only thing about making my own is that I can make ANY color combination I want. Sometimes you find a certain color combo that works and you can't find anywhere that sells that color. Before I got my mold I tried the deal using pieces of plastic worms and did not have very good results with it. Good to hear that someone is taking care of our fishing buddy and making what he needs. Man we need to be out there right now after those slabs instead of stuck at work.

you can buy raw plastic and plastic color and moulds for plastic lures at

also you can make moulds out of plaster of paris then spray them with plaster sealer
pin your lure in a small card board box with straight pins so the lure dont float up when you pour the plaster in the box over it. let plaster dry over night then it ready to use.
