    You can cut off part of the trolling motor shaft. Several videos on YouTube how to do this.

    The $100 for the motor was a pretty good deal................just don't go buying a terranova and yes they are expensive BUT they IMO are worth every penny not having to fight the foot pedal all day and the spot lock and retrace functions are a must when long lining and pulling cranks!!

    I have a Terrova with a 60 inch shaft, I had it cut down to a 52 inch it was a bad mistake. when I go to the back of the boat to fish a lot of the time the motor will come out of the water and when you go to pull the motor up it is hard to do. Like Cray said you will get used to it. and it will be for the better. I am going to change my shaft back to 60 inches but it will cost me 200.00 bucks for my stupid mistake.
