Kayak Trip Report, Madison County Lake
I fished Madison County Lake today, what a beautiful day to be on the water!
The fish were very slow all day, I had a rough start looking for shallow fish, finally decided to stop trying to make the fish be shallow and started working into deeper water. Figure this one, I found the fish in 10 to 14 feet of water. Half were tuxedo Black, half weren't, but the females hadn't spawned yet. I'm thinking the rain Monday may have cooled the water enough to push them back deep? I kept 20, plus 3 large Shellcrackers. I'll post a photo later.
The water clear with visibility of three to four feet and 63 degrees when I started. The water had warmed to 70 by 5PM. The fish came on 1/16oz Marabou jigs in white or chartreuse. Half came on single pole fishing isolated brush, the remainder spider rigging.
