    Default Wheeler 4-2

Fished wheeler again this morning. Decided to go try a new spot I just knew would pay off, boy was I wrong. After fishing for about a hr and half with no fish decided to run back to harbor. I only caught 10 total for the day but had 6 nice 10"+ keepers that I threw back. Water was dingy and 65 degrees when i headed in about 1145. Most people I talked to said fish were slow for them also. Didn't catch enough fish to really have a color pattern they were far and few between. Not a great day catching but was a great day to be fishing.

Glad you were able to get on the water again. Experimenting is part of the fun. Been an odd year. Fishing was better in November and early December...size-wise and about a month later than when my big ones normally come. Have not seen any true signs of the spawn yet in Cotaco. No worries...just being on the water is fun!

There is a lot of people catching them and have been catching for a while. I would suggest not getting stuck with one lake. Its been over 3 weeks since I have got to gone with my dad having knee replacement but My best Friend and his nephew had a 2 Man limit Sat. with fish being right were they were a month ago. I think when the water temp moves around 65 a lot of times people get stuck with thinking they have to be shallow and they are not. We caught fish in Jan. with 45 water temp in 4ft and same day caught them in 20ft. We have been logging our fishing trips for the last 15 yrs and this year seems to be right on schedule as the past 15 yrs for average. Things can change from yr to yr 2 weeks either way depending weather and water conditions. Some days better than others and some yrs lakes better than others.
