First trip out this year for me. The surface temperature was 58 and warmed to around 60. Most of the fish I caught was in 6 to 8 foot of water. I fished with bobby garlands and hot grubs. The darker colors worked better because the water was stained from the past rain. Did not catch any that had there tuxedos on, I predict it being several more weeks before their ready especially with this cold front moving in.

Nice catch Slabhog
I had two males today that were dark, the rest weren't even close spawning. I agree, a few weeks off.
Nice mess ! Congrats on a good day out !
Slab hog great catch! As to the spawning ,you are right more so about the crappie you caught since they were mostly white crappie which will spawn as much as 3 weeks later than the Black Crappie. They like it a bit warmer water temp wise usually at 65 and above. I bet the 2 that Ditch said were turning were male Black Crappie!! I believe based on the development of the eggs that a few of the larger black crappie are already spawning on the upper end of the Big G .
The upper end of Limestone seemed empty of Black Crappie Thursday, which is strange since they usually make up most of the Crappie I catch in that area. I was wondering if they've spawned and now are in the post spawn lock jaw or just weren't biting?
Great looking catch! Congratulations.

Fishing is a privilege...catching is a bonus. Enjoy each precious moment we have to experience our great outdoors!
I had the same issue sunday fishing that area . tried all depths from 1-8 ft and hit all the gravel pits and eddies and managed only a couple dinks ....water level was at 553 as opposed to 551 two days before and may have scattered them some. did see an alligator that must have been 8ft long crossing limestone creek near its confluence with the bay.
Super Cool on the Gator, I haven't seen one in that area, but have heard reports.
Nice looking mess of fish, congrats.
