Migration Question
This is the part of crappie fishing I'm completely baffled about - the transition between deep water and spawning grounds. So far this year, we have been doing well during the cold weather locating and catching fish. Now that they're on the move, we're not doing as well. What, exactly is going on? Are the fish still traveling deep water channels heading up to shallow water spawning grounds? Or have they moved to feeder creeks and traveling those channels to spawning grounds? Or are they traveling open water depressions in the bottom to those grounds?
I can usually find fish fairly well during the spawn but this transition period baffles me to no end. I might as well stay home during this period of time based on my lack of knowledge. Anyone want to share their experience and insight?
