Wished I would have caught you there. Big fish was 2.35 and weighed near the end. I believe it was the second place guys that had a 2.23 pounder and got edged out of the big fish pot.
A bunch of us didn't do well. We had one keeper which I gave to the lady fishing at the Bridgeport dock where we put in. Should have weighed it in after seeing a few teams weighing one, two or three fish.
it was a good time anyway. At a few points in the day, we had some "comedy". We went under a very low bridge to get back in this slough. On the way out, we forgot we had a 14' BGJP sitting upright and the bridge snapped that pole. All we could do was laugh at our oversight. Then while fishing a brush pile in Chilihatchee creek, we were retrieving marker buoys with my ego reach net. Wind gusted and pushed us around pretty good and it got hectic trying to do too many things at once. After we got everything on the boat and sat for the trip to the next spot, I asked my partner where's the net? Evidently, during that chaos I let the net slip off my lap into the water. LOL.
edit: early after launch we fishing some flooded timber close the bank. It was super quiet and we were watching our rod tips intensely anticipating the bite to come when the stillness was blasted by 8 turkeys that took to the sky. They were roosting in high grass when we happened upon them. It was a nice moment even though we were really startled.
