Guntersville depth?
After a long time of wanting to do so, I built some spider rig style rod holders, went today and bought some 12ft rods and put reels on them and have them all rigged up. Heading out in the morning to give it a try. Not sure if I'm going to troll or just put the rods in the holders and drift around. Wanted to know what depths they are hanging out at this time of year? Are they in the creek channels? My crappie fishing has consisted of tying up under bridges and attempting to shoot docks so I'm trying to expand my techniques. Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!!

I don't fish Guntersville but I would think you would want to start in the creek chanels. Not sure how deep you should start but I would think around 20 fow. About 10ft deep. I'm sure someone with more experience on Guntersville will help you out. I am not the best spider riging guy so take what I say with a grain of salt.

Not been on the big g in a while they ought be on the Chanel ledges and in the mouth of the coves getting ready to move up if some hadn't already moved in .I have heard several reports of them starting to be caught around the docks at the public parks. Hope u find em!

Went sunday and tried the long poles trolling around in a creek channel edge that dropped off to around 20 ft, spent about 2 hours messing around with that with 0 luck. went by a bridge and it was around 9 o'clock by this time and ended up catching a few near the pilings, then messed around shooting boat houses, seemed like we fished 50 boat houses and ended up with a few more. Have to make some adjustments to the rod holders I built, the weight of the long rods put more pressure on the holder than I imagined. Still a fun day but would have loved to catch some on the long poles. Is spider rigging a tactic that can be effective all through the winter until spring or do they shut off?
