Looks like those fish aren't going to spawn this year and are reabsorbing the eggs.

Well just keep in mind that you don't need a good spawn every year...just a good spawn every 3-4 years.

Unfortunately, this is about the 3rd year in a row. And the crappie numbers on Guntersville are already down. Sigh.

I hope the white crappie get a good spawn in since the blacks seemed to have missed it.

No argument intended but I think we miss the spawn more than the fish miss the spawn .I caught fish back in the first part to the middle of March that had already spawned out I have also caught tons of short fish from 3" to 9 " on Guntersville this year also have caught more 13-15" fish this year than before its very obvious that a lot of fish lost their eggs this year if those brownish eggs are deceased just my Saturday we had 24 keepers and 40 plus shorts few of the 24 still had bright yellow egg sacs but we're not bulged out . they are areas in the lake that fish spawn plum up into June.

Great thing about Crappie, it only takes a small percentage to spawn successfully in a few creeks or back sloughs.
