Default First spawn fish of the year report

We caught on the banks today it's just going to get better every day. Caught most of them 1 1/2 ft under a float 2ft from the bank. Caught over 50, kept 20 for Sunday dinner. We used black and chartreuse and pink and chartreuse some marabou and some plastics. Water temperature was 63.

Great report ! Glad you got on them. I'd like to give that some practice I haven't ever fished the banks for them what are some general rules of thumb on fishing the banks . I understand the jig and float part so I guess just hit the banks and go at it ?

It's a typical spring in my necck of the woods, the bank is a mile out in the woods

Found the same at Bradford Sinks on Redstone Arsenal yesterday. Water was 64 with all the fish in 4 feet of water or less. No bloody tails, but it's just a few days away if the temps hold. The spawn make be fast and early this year, no dogwood blooms in sight.

Great day! Thanks for the great report. I appreciate getting the detailed reports. I hope it continues after the spawn because that is when I can't catch them.

Thanks for the report, 64 degrees starts the spawn. You are going to have a lot more fun for a few weeks.

I put 16 that were between 9 1/2 and 11 inches in the cooler, returning another half a limit that were 13 inches of bigger. I gave my fish to a coworker that was fishing with me. They were a little slow and scattered, but everything had move to the banks. FYI, there are an amazing number of 5 to 6 inch Crappie in Bradford right now, if they get enough food to grow, next year should be great for this hole also.
