Lilly has the occasional Blue of Flathead, but it's 95 percent Channel Cats. That's one of the reasons I fish it.

Much like Crappie, the catfish doesn't spook since the kayak doesn't have a trolling motor making noise. I usually have the jug in my hand before the fish knows I'm there. The real challenge is where do you put 50 pounds of catfish in a kayak!

LOL, Lilly was high Saturday, but the water is normally only three to four feet deep in the summer and closer to two feet during the winter draw down. Your 50 Merc would be tossing a big muddy tail everywhere it went!

I put my Bass Tracker in there a couple years ago, the big motor never was turned on. Trolled it for 3 hours with the minnkota for 10 small crappie. It was a pain in the ass to launch at that make shift ramp. Kayak is the way to fish that place.

You could have launched and reloaded Saturday and ran the big motor anywhere you wanted.

The water high kind of gives the fish to many places to hide along the banks though. With the slough a couple feet lower the fish are more towards the middle and it becomes a spider rigging heaven.
