It's been a long dry spell with surgeries etc. but today I said the hell with the wind and temps and got on the lake about 6:30am, water temps were 53° and the wind was blowing and if you did keep your foot on the trolling motor you were a long way from your spot in a hurry. I went to one spot and got nothing so I crossed the lake to an area about 5' deep and full of stumps. I would start upwind and drift through it. I caught a few on minnows but most came on a 1/16oz chartreuse road runner with a black and chartreuse Wally Marshall Joker. I caught 14 with everyone being a nice size and the biggest 16 1/2" and loaded with eggs. All the females had eggs and the males are trying on their spawning tuxedos! I only fished till 8:30 and let the wind win!
