I know how you feel. I have had friends stand me up on fishing trips and hunting trips. After getting up early and getting everything ready ahead of time and then they call and give a lam reason that they can't go or having to call them to wake them up and they just can't get woke up enough to go. Well I just don't plan with them much anymore. My best fishing partner now is my wife and she broke her foot(ankle) 6 weeks ago and we have not got to go fishing lately. I have been having to do some of the housework that she was doing and "boy" will I be glad when she gets back to walking good again. You are right not to fish along as you never know what will go wrong especially at night or very early in the morning before light and some lakes this time of year don't have many if any others fishing them this time of the year. Hope you load the boat next time out and have a very merry Christmas.
Be safe and good luck fishing

Good fishing partners are hard to find. I've had the same thing happen too. I just don't invite them anymore

While I agree that you are right in not wanting to fish alone for safety reasons: I learned a long time ago that everyone wants to go until it's time to go... and then it seems like everything in the world comes up preventing them from going at the very last minute when usually it's that they just couldn't stand getting out of that warm bed. Once I learned not to depend on others going with me to go fishing by myself; I had some of the best, most peaceful and most productive times on the water that I could hope for.

When I did have people going with me: If they didn't show up exactly when they said they were supposed to... I would leave them behind without the slightest hesitation. The next time I would usually find that they were waiting for me when I got there.

My favorite fishing partner is my nine year old. She would fish all day everyday if we could. She's getting old enough to do everything herself though. They grow up too fast.Name: IMG_0376.jpg
