Default Recommend a line and weight

I'm getting my boat spider rigged to push minnow/jigs this fall/winter. I've got an 8 rod setup (12 foot Mr. Crappie) in the front of the boat and was wondering if someone would recommend a brand of line and weight. I'd like something that has little memory as it will be spooled on some Mr. Crappie casting reels, and they are very small with a small diameter spool. Oh, and since the reels won't be casting, how much line would you put on each reel.

    Thanks.

I like to use 10 lb. main line that is Stren Gold color cause I'm old and it helps me see the line better so I can see bites. I tie my double hook rigs we fish with out of 6 lb. Vicious line. There are other folks who use different stuff but this works for me. Good luck and give us some reports when you get started bringing in those slabs.

What Roger said. I use Vicious all the way through on mine 10 lb/6 lb but Roger catches way more fish so he might be on to something. I would not use the Mr Crappie line. Way too stiff. As for spooling, I would full spool like recommended by the mfg. The downside to spider rigging is the occasional catfish or green carp that can run some line out plus reels operate at their max potential when fully spooled.

I like #10 on the spool with Bass Pro, Cabela's or Vicious Hi-Vis lines so you can see them, then go to #6 clear line for leaders and the hooks.

How much would an 8 rod rig like you have cost with new rods, reels, and holders? Been thinking about it for a whole but haven't bit the bullet yet. Also, anyone know where I can get something to go into my seat pedistal base that will go off into 2 sections to put 2 seat pedistals in? My deck is plenty wide enough, just haven't found anything like that and wondered if I would have to get it custom made. Thanks!

I ordered my rods from Prairie Wings, they were running a sale on them. Bought most of the reels from various places (Dicks, etc) as I found them. Guess I've got about $200 on all the rods/reels (maybe a little more). Actually bought 3 reels from a tackle store who was trying to get them off their shelves for 50% off.

What I'm doing about the two seats side-by-side is a sheet of 3/4 plywood, cut to fit the front deck tightly. I'm using some "tee" nuts to fasten seat bases and rod holders to the plywood. In essence, I'm creating a deck that can be removed as a unit that has the seat bases, rod holders etc attached to the base. I'll post up some pics as I get the base done.
