I've been working a lot so not much time for fishing. Wanting to try to pull some cranks around north Alabama area, maybe Monday or Tuesday if I happen to get off work. Just looking to catch a few to eat. Anyone catching them?

Took my daughter and her boyfriend out last Friday, 14 Aug on Guntersville. We got on the water at 0530 and went to the Hwy 169 causeway on Browns Creek. Put out two Cap and Coleman rigs with double minnows on and got bit by the stripe as soon as they hit the water. The stripe were constant and kept us busy rebaiting the rods and getting them back in. We also threw jigs with no success. Boyfriend managed to catch a nice 11" black on the minnows while we were under the causeway. Decided to pull some crankbaits and started trolling at about 0900. We hit the area out front of the causeway on the flat near the main channel. We caught fiveo nice fish and put them into the boat. Also had a nice channel cat that went home for a grease bath. The green glow in the dark pattern was the one that caught our first fish and a green with grey back and an orange splatter pattern caught the other fish. We finished with 6 nice crappie. Baits were trolled 85-100' back of the boat at 1.8-20. mph. The wind was blowing at 7 mph out of the ESE when we started and was a strong 10-15 when we left. Water temp was 82.6. We decided to call it at about 1430. The ride back across the main channel was bumpy and wet. Boyfriend in the picture caught his first crappie during this trip as well as his largest!
Great report Bob! Glad you got to try them.
Great post Bob hope to see you at crappie camp in Oct.
Nice catch and thanks for the report. I didn't get to go fishing Monday or today, had to work the last 12 days. Hope to possibly get to go this weekend if I don't have to work. Thinking i might go try bear creek or cedar creek. Thanks again for the report
Prater, If you want to go over on Shoals Creek next week give me a call. I am off and have a place rented starting tomorrow. T can give you a number to get in touch with me.
I would love to but, of course when the weather is nice, I have to work again. Cant complain though, it pays the bills.
