    Default Big G question

Went and stayed all day at Preston island today caught a lot of shell crackers and blue gill they were a nice size good enough to feelay. But can anybody give me any advice on where to go at gunterville. To catch some monster size shell crackers ? Oh yeah. Beware tomorrow at gunterville. There's going to be a huge tournament tomorrow.

Have you tried the extreme North west end of North Sauty / Goose Pond? They seem to always be up there. Or Town Creek (upper, Jackson Co.)
I haven't been up there for a couple of months.
Last time I was up that away there where hundreds in the creek mouths out on the river.
I went to Mud Creek about a month ago & caught a bunch of Red ears / Shellcrackers even though I was fishing for Bass!
Wonder where the best place for them & crappie this time of year? I'd like to take my Ol Lady, but she's afraid of the "Big" water, gets seasick when we go out on the channel fishing ledges and the yachts are passing by!
I fish primarily Mid Lake out on the channel along the "Miracle Mile". I really like the upper end, seems to be a lot less traffic.
Holler at me when you're going & I'll follow you around or you can go with me.

Try fishing on bottom around shell beds or some kind of deeper structure around a ledge or channel out in open water. I always find the bigger fish in these kinds of places out away from where there is a lot of bank fishing. Just 2 cents from my log book.

I know what you are saying when you talk about them big boats I normally fish the back waters without much problem but Saturday we cat fished out on the river at Goosepond . I have a 16ft flat bottom and it was very ruff trying to deal with the big boats. Going to have to get something bigger if I fish down that way much.i know where lots of those shell beds are down their do those shell cracker stay on them a lot .

Yes, I have made sonar logs on Lowrance's Insight Genesis of a lot of the shell beds, but still got a ways to go. Only problem is they won't show up if you use Navionics chip, which is a little better. But, they both have errors, for example the Navionics contours are about 2 feet deeper than they really are & the old creek channel in the back of Mud Creek is marked wrong! Most of the ones I have found have been on the east side of the main channel from Waterfront to Comer Bridge. I haven't found many on the west side.
Holler at me if you ever want to go. I have a 21 ft Stratos with a Motor Guide GPS / linked to charts trolling motor which sure makes it a lot easier to pull / push cranks. It has 6 Drift ease rod holder on back and two 4's on the back. When I'm by myself, I only run 6 off the front, 2 with planer boards.
I bass fished over there (East of GP) yesterday and got 5, about 3 - 5 pounders, on crank baits in 8 -12 feet along the grass lines.
