The Goose Pond area has always been good for me. As to patterns who can tell lately what the weather will be doing. I hope to spend a little time on the water next week and find a few. PM me if you would like.

The tornados of 2011 left a LOT of trees blown down all around the edge of the lake. some are in shallow water and some fell off bluffs and the trunks are sticking up out of deep water. I've found a couple in Town Creek to be productive and they're my 'go-to' spots. LOTS of trees downed up there.

wow Call Shy and i just thought it was my and my partner having a hard time on the lower end of the lake!! I am fearing that we are on a downward trend on the specs as I havent seen many dinks being caught under the bridges and such the last 2 years .On the other hand the TVA 2014 survey of game fish had the crappie up for guntersville Guntersville
    Number of crappie
155 for 2014 in 18 hours of shocking vs 68 in 2013 and 98 in 2012 You can see the complete report at tva.GOV SPORTFISH SURVEY

We fished the 79 bridge at Goose Pond yesterday from 11 AM till 4 Pm. caught a drum, few shad, no crappie, marked a lot of fish, very slow bite. A little current, running against the wind which was tough, temp never got above 52 air 46 water. Wasn't crowded, now I know why!!

I think most of the crappie have moved away from that bridge for now. I hit it about once a week and on Friday went zero for zero. There may be some future waves over the next couple of weeks as they move through to the spawning areas.

I'll be heading to Guntersville for the first time towards the end of March. I'm looking for a nice camp ground that is close to good fishing. Any recommendations? Is it easy for a newbie to the lake to get on the fish? Also, what is they best way to fish the lake during that time, and when does the spawn typically occur? I'm used to fishing the ocean like depths on Smith Lake, so I have no idea how to fish a lake like Guntersville.

There are a few campgrounds to choose from if you want to fish Guntersville Lake. There is one at Goosepond Colonly with a ramp right in a good crappie area. There is also one at the Jackson County Park, on Roseberry Creek another good area. South Sauty has one as well. All of these are good areas. As far as a "newbie", I guess you can work the old bent pole method and see where others are fishing. The crappie will spawn somewhere around the end of March to the first couple of weeks of April. Good luck.
