    Default shooting docks

I fish wheeler lake, shooting docks is my favorite way to fish. I do some casting and fishing laydowns, don't spider fish.
Because of the fall pull down wheeler is 4 1/2 foot down. That does not make for good dock shooting because most of the
docks have very little water under them, spring ok but not now. I have read that Wilson has good dock shooting this time
of the year. Can some one or would some one give me some tips, where is the best area to fish. On wheeler the docks in the creeks are better than on the big river, my experience. I have looked at aerial maps and there are docks from wheeler to wilson dam and on both sides of the river. Where are the public ramps. I am not asking for anyone hot docks, just a little guidance. thanks

Crappie NOW magazine ( a free online magazine) has an article in this months issue about dock shooting on lakes that are drawn down during the winter.

I did read the article, fishing from lake to lake is different. I may be wrong but I believe you need deep water close to your docks and that is a problem on wheeler and its creeks. Thanks for the reply

I have never fished Wheeler. I look to docks that have deeper water close by. In my experience docks with creek channel, bends in creek channels close by seem to hold more fish. They will get shallow this time of year seeking water temps that are more comfortable to them. When I get a chance I will look a Wheeler on the topo map.

I shoot docks a lot but your going to be limited this time of year. this is why I don't fish much in the winter. I don't fish wheeler so can't help you. On my home lake there are some docks that hold fish in winter but they are a long way apart and is not worth the trouble. I just wait till spring for docks to get good. I going to go do some drop shoting my friend have been catching them that way.
