    Default FLINT CREEK

I got a chance to go fish for a few hours Monday. I put In at the ramp off hwy 31 at flint creek, sure wished there was a good place to tie the boat up after unloading. Went in no further than a mile back and started out doing some tightlining with little luck. I only did that for about 30 min. then started fishing tree tops. I caught 8 fish ( 6 crappie, 2 bluegill, and got wrapped up in bankhead forest by a green carp.) The crappie I caught were black crappie the biggest was about 12 inches. To my surprise the creek looked like it had been cleaned up, navigation was fairly easy. Nice day out on the water.

Excellent report, thanks for the update and congrats on a good day on the water. I take it you went upstream or did you go down stream from that launch?

I went upstream from the ramp. I was planning on going back to flint this Saturday and fishing some more tree tops, but with this rain coming in flint creek will be a no go. That creek gets ugly after a heavy rain.

Doesn't take much rain to blow out either Flint or Cotacao. I have never gone up stream just down stream from that launch. Good stuff, thanks.

Can anybody please tell me what Flint looks like now that the rain is gone? I would hate to drive there and waste a trip..

best way to learn flint from 31 to 67 is to fall in behind another boat and follow its trail. between the launch and the railroad bridge is tricky, lot of zig zagging. north of the railroad bridge is usually ok. south of the launch is very rough, leave it to the conoes and flatbottoms. respect other boats and bank fisherman is a biggie. some of those guys will give you an earfull or worse if you come through there washing everyone out.

i'd say its in bad shape today. if we don't get anymore rain it may be ok by this weekend.
