    Smile Guntersville 17 May

Took my daughter and her boyfriend out this morning at 0515 and we hit Browns's Creek to try some of the crappie. We got some long line trolling in before 1000. Found fish any where from 10 - 12' deep. They did not have any specific color they liked and were very sporadic. Fish were deep and off structure on the bottom. Caught both blacks and whites. Boyfriend caught his first fish ever, a nice 3 lb cat that messed up a few lines in the process (He caught a second one later). We used double rigs with a 1/16 and a 1/24 or 1/32 jigs. The wind was blowing us at 3-5 mph as we were getting our gear in the water. At about 1000 it picked up to 10 and it started to rain pretty good, so we picked up and ran to the causeway and tied up underneatth to get out of the weather and started to jig fish. I put a minnow down on the bottom and got bit right away. (It was a cat) So, then I stopped that and started to jig fish a monkey milk on 1/16th and started to catch some fish. First a nice bream and then two keeper nice black crappie. Boyfriend caught one short fish but really liked the jig fishing. Pretty impressive given he had never done any fishing before. The water temp was at 70.2 when we started and it got to 71 by 1400 when we stopped. We ended up with 7 good 12-14" fish for the day. The two whites both had eggs in them and one had a bloddy tail as she was laying eggs! They are laying on the structure in 12 FOW! Not a livewell full, but a fun day with the kids.

Yea, the new boat is a lot of fun! Just starting to really get things set up and fishing the way I want. Will take some time to learn all the in and outs for the electronics though. LoL
