We like our lowrance with the one we use!!

It is my understanding that DI or SI will not work with the US2 sonar. I also learned that a Humminbird DI unit will not work at all with US2 not even the traditional sonar. However a SI unit will you just wouldnt have SI or DI capability. All units would work if you ran the transducer that comes with them down the trolling motor but that would defeat the purpose of US2. I do not kow about the Lowrance units. You need to really check into this you don't want to waste a bunch of money on something that doesnt work. I've been doing alot of research on getting a unit for mine as well and it has become rather aggrevating! Good luck!

First, my Humminbird 597 HD DI worked with the US2, but the Down Imaging doesn't work. The regular sonar worked. I moved that unit to my console and put a Hummiinbird 959ci HD XD up front with the Terrova. It works great; highly recommend it.

Ear Wayne, if you want DI then have to go with Bird so you can run ducer cable down shaft. Low cable is to big. If you want to utilize the US2 just for 2D then either brand would work as long as it's straight 2D. A couple of the bird SI/DI units will work on 2d but dosnt make sense to spend money and not use it. I run a 998 on transom and just a Lowrance monochrome 2D unit on my US2. When I go to another unit have been thinking about finding a used Lowrance HDS5 gen1 or 2 and use adapter cable. Just have color 2D and GPS.

I have Terrova with us2 and have had it for a good while with my Lowrance HDS8 hooked to it with adapter cable, very inexpensive adapter, and I also have added the LSS-1 to get down scan and side scan on my boat but I ran that transducer on the transom. When you install the LSS-1 box to the boat it comes with a bigger transducer that is made to give you down scan and side scan and you can add that via an Ethernet cable to up to 3 or 4 HDS units. May be a little more system than you want but if down scan, and side scan and good sonar is a must, this set up is very hard to beat. You can buy something smaller than the HDS 8 such as a hds7 or a hds5 to cut some cost. If you add another unit, say to your console, you can run ss/ds to there as well simply through the attachment of an Ethernet cable to the LSS-1 box. Then if you want a sonar transducer on that unit, you can mount it on rear of boat and have best of all worlds. Both units will communicate with each other. Set a way point on one, and both units will have it on them. Just a great set up but its a little more expensive but to me it was worth it. Another thing I like about the Lowrance system is I don't lose GPS position when I am not moving. I have never regretted going with the Lowrance set up but its not nearly as cheap as the HSI/DSI units they have out now, but the quality is what I wanted and have. There is a difference for sure. The newer cheaper units out now just do not give you what you want, meaning using all the features on the US2 set up. Either just not use that and strap on the sonar/ HDI transducer on to trolling motor and enjoy your new depth finder and forget there is a built in transducer because it wont handle anything but a plain sonar signal,

It looks like as many DI, and SI that are out there that they would make a us2 for a terrova with the proper transducer for that unit.
if a man is going to spend that much money for the unit and the terrova then a few extra dollars would not matter. But like Cray said I took my terrova apart and ran my cable down the shaft. But I voided my waranty on my new terrova when I did this. is it worth it, I dont know. But all I do know is that I have a 998hddisi up front.
