    Default Is It Over???

Beginning to wander if the shallow crappie bite is over. Been fishing Anderson and 1st Creek with little success. What is everyone else's opinion? I'm desperate. The wife wants crappie so I got to catch some or I'm going to have to live in the boat.......hmmmm may not be to bad. Haha

I havent done any good at all the times I've been this year. 2 Times night fishing under bridges with not much luck then a few times during the day trying to find them with zero crappie total. I finally got my boat set up to spider rig so I hope I'm not too late for that.

I really think it is. Here on the middle Hooch I got on em on the bank 2 good days then 4 inches of rain and mud then when they were getting back right for two days 3.5 inches of rain and more mud and cold. Think they spawned out sometime in between!

At least on Wheeler the fish were getting ready to spawn as TVA brought the water up from winter pool. The Crappie were staged in a couple feet of water last month, now they have four additional feet of water on top, but they're in the same areas. Look for fish in protected pockets and bays, north bank with gravel or sandy bottom. Most of the fish are deeper than the anglers are fishing (four or five feet). The stump fields in four to five feet of water should be on fire. Every time I've been out the bite has been aggressive. It might be a good time to drags some roadrunners.

Was done crappie fishing but my neighbor wanted to go this morning so I put the rod holders back on and took him. Rarely if ever long line this far into April so wasn't expecting much but ended up with 43 and left them still biting (only fished until 10:30). Caught them in a cove in 9 to 12 feet of water about 40 feet from the shore. Speed had to be fairly fast, at least 1.1 mph and best two colors were June bug early then monkey milk. Water temp was 60 to 62. All fish caught in about a 200 yard stretch of water and could only get them going in one direction, didn't get a one on the return trip down that stretch. Pretty good day considering I left the house not expecting much.
