When the days get that long it was on! Now heavy rains, rising waters, and artic fronts could shut them down..... but I just don't believe they will start regardless of water temp until the days get right. Just my opinion.
March 17th 12 hours of daylight began.

One other thing I have noticed about Weiss thru the years. The black Crappie will spawn earlier than the White Crappie. The Black Crappie Spawn typically starts the 1st or 2nd week of April and the White Crappie spawn is the last week of April til the 1st week of May when they start. Especillay in the Mud Creek area. I thisnk this is shaping up to be one of those years when the spawn will be a viscous quick wham bam thank you mam event. It always seem to be a quick spawn when we have a very cold winter and the water gets right quickly.

I think my 8 day vacation starting this Saturday will be perfect for the Weiss spawn. Hope to see all you guys on the water next week. Let's leave some for the future!!!! LOL

What's ratio of white to black crappie on Weiss. I have a freezer full of crappie I caught on Logan Martin between mid dec to mid mar and I only caught one white crappie in the entire bunch and it was small and I released it.
