Thread: Lay lake report

I have been fishing a couple of hours a day for the last few days anytime the wind would let me stay in place. I cast jigs and the past few days have been doing well on deep river ledges and creek channels. fishing 1/8 or 1/6 ounce jigs in 22 to 32 feet water depth. Mixing plastics , feather, and hair jigs. Best seems to be feather in last few days. Only problem is I catch and release 3 or 4 drum foe each crappie kept but the drum are running a pound or better and I have lots of fun catching them. What a fun problem to have. A friend does some trolling and he is usually doing pretty well and finding his fish in 6 to foot depths. I use 4 1/2 to 5 foot rods with ultra light reels and 4 pound test hi visibility line. Color seems to vary with brightness or cloudiness of the day. Change often until you find the one.
