    Default Mobile River Report

Fished Chippewa Saturday morning from about 9am to 1pm. Took a couple of hours of fishing to find some since I haven't been in there in about 10 years. Caught 14 nice ones in a couple of hours but the wind got bad and the guy I followed in wanted to leave since he wasn't catching any and we were the only boats left so I wasn't staying by myself in case I had issues getting out. This is a backwater lake you can only get in when the river is right. Water temp was about 57 degrees. Stopped in Bayou Zeast on the way back and caught a few more with water temp about the same. Fished a little in Dead lake near the launch and water temp was 60-62 so the next few weeks should only be getting better.

I fished a lake north of I-65 bridge Sat. and caught one gar, so you did better than me. Water temp was about the same 57. Chipawa is a nice place, but a long and hard (sometimes) ride. The last time I was in there, I had a anurisum start leaking bad and almost died before I got to the hospital. In fact the doctor that did the surgery said I should not even be alive and he didn't even know about the boat ride back to Cliffs landing. Planning to go back again this year when the water gets a little warmer. You are right about when the water warms a little more, should be good fishing in about a week if it stays like this and we don't get flooded again.

Good job Hardhead. I'm still doing Honeydo's I let stack up over the winter. Getting ready to chase turkeys. How deep are they holding now?
