    Smile pelicans


    fished for the first time in a long time today with my oldr brother. didn't catch much, but we did see 15 white pelicans near belfonte.
    had a great time.

    Actually refugees...........ooooops, I meant displaced birds from Hurricane Katrina that never went home.

    we seen about 100 Pelicans today in different groups not all together.

    We had loads for the last 2 winters on elk and 2nd creek but this year hardly any

    These birds migrate from the Northeast ( New Jersey area). Traditionally, they go from Jersey and winter in south Louisiana. For the past several years they have been spending more time in Alabama waters. They'll be leaving within the next week or so. Last year I had about 100 parked in front of my place on Neely Henry for most of the winter. Hard to immagine how many minnows they eat.
