Default Hard day but managed a few

Went to Logan Martin. Long lining, water temp 50. Got to my fishing spot before first light and as soon as I could see I started catching fish. Caught nine the first hour then it went dead. Tried area for another hour and nothing. Decided to move and tried four other areas and had one that I lost at boat. Went back to original area and saw rogerA there and he only had a couple but did have a nice bass. Area is a little deeper so I tied on two jigs on a couple poles and my first pass thru the cove I caught 6. Thought things were looking up, but never hit another fish. Anyway gave up about 2 or so. Gave my crappie to rogerA on the way out. I have enough in my freezer for now. Was a nice day except for about two hours of a little windy spell. Think I'm going to take rest of week and weekend off and get back after them next week. Good luck to all who will be fishing.

Saw you in your honey hole at about 6:15.(I started to come join you but turned and went to the slough above). Caught six right off the bat Left when the wind was howling. Looking to hide from the wind found three more keepers between 10:00 and 4:00. Caught a few bass. Ran cranking battery down with recirc/aeriator + electronics and limped back to T & C on trolling motor. Beautiful day to be out, not so hot on the catching.

The wife and I fished from around 9:00 till 4:00. Saw usafret99 and a couple other folks we knew. Was surprised to see so many folks there during the week. The wind was bad at first but got better later. Saw water from 50-53 degrees. We caught 12 crappie, 18 bass and 6 catfish. We caught all our fish spider rigging. They seemed to be deeper than they were last time, I guess the cold spell pushed them back out. Lost one a few min. before we quit that the wife said was over 2 lbs. When I cleaned the fish they were almost all males so the females must still be deeper, wish I could figure out where.

yea, I was surprised at number of boats. Most of the time during the week this time of year i might see one other person long lining. Maybe I need to stop posting about the fishing on logan martin. Talked for a sec with one of them they had drove down from kentucky that night. one of them needs to learn a little long lining etiquette. I made a run thru the cove and back down same stretch and caught 6 fish i turned around to make run again and the sucker speed up to get in front of me and made same run I had just made. IGNORANT

I have had lots of issues with other boats while long lining. A lot of times I will have bass fishermen pull in front of me and start fishing right where I am headed. I prefer to spider rig because I can make a tighter turn around and stop and fish a spot if I catch something or see structure on the depth finder. I do long line in the spring for a short time but spider rig about 95 % of the time. We saw several out of state boats, most from Georgia, and cannot figure out why they come here to fish because I know they have decent crappie lakes in their home states.
