I keep my jig 12 to 18 inches deep. we used 4 20ft rods straight out front. it takes team work. I keep boat creeping along if I snag I hand rod to partner we won 600.00 on Oconee big fish 2.86 doing this. try weedless hooks with big minnow. If wind is blowing I longline It excites me too (think) I'm fishing where no one has and spider rig u can get too those shallow hawgs. Tip straighten ur wire hook and bend it back the way dock shooters do and you will get alot of them back.
Ive long lined in 2ft of water, but definetly cant be a bunch of stumps around. only have 12ft and down poles so if i need to get in shallow areas with structure i put a bobber on and go real slow seems to work pretty good

One of our sponsors on here, Curtis, has the "Litewire Hooker jigs" which wil usually staighted out if you hang up. I plan to try tightlining in a lake filled with brush and stump this spring and all my rods will have his jigs on them, cause I know I will get hung up. Once I learn the terrain I am hoping I can set the jigs to run just above the brush, but I know I am gonna hang up some til I get it figured out.
Most of my fishing has been on a big reservoir which has consistent depth and not a lot of brush, so I just drop to the bottom and reel up about a foot or two and seldom hang up.
Mark 1:17 ...I will make you fishers of men
