Thanks for the report. What was the water temp and how deep was the water you were fishing? Sounds like you had a great day. I won't be able to get out until late Feb. Hopefully there will be some left.

Went crappie fishing today for 6 hrs. ( 1-9-2014 ) long line trolled in 4 to 6 ft. of water. Air temp was 45, water temp
was 39, cloudy - no rain. Despite the temp being in the teens at first of week, we caught well over 100 fish today and kept 42 nice 10" to 12" keepers. I guess the 2014 season has officially begun![]()
Take a Kid fishing, keep only enough to eat, and release the rest to spawn again. Pop
Was there stumps or something holding them that shallow? Just trying to learn. I tried all depths yesterday and only got a few in 12 foot where there was tons of shad but could never get a good bird going. Thought when the water temp drop that low they had went deeper.
This area is spring fed and is warmer than the rest of the lake by a couple of degrees. No stumps where I was fishing, but there are plenty of stumps in the area that will hold the fish in a few weeks.
